PURPOSE:To improve the photoconductivity in the range from the visible radiation region to the near IR radiation region by forming the polymer core with a specified copolymer in the title plastic optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:When the polymer constituting the core of the plastic optical fiber is formed with the copolymer of octafluorostyrene and an alkyl acrylate or an alkyl methacrylate, the C-H bond in the molecular structure is fluorinated. Consequently, the IR absorption of C-H bond is shifted to the long-wavelength region, and the loss wavelength position due to the fluorination of the specified C-H bond in the molecular structure is adjusted. As a result, the oscillation absorption between C-H is remarkably reduced, and the photoconductivity in the range from the visible radiation region to the near IR radiation region can be improved. |
