Control device for an automatic gearbox (1) of a motor vehicle with an electronic control unit (2) for the determination of the gear shift points for changing gear. This is accomplished at least from the data concerning the vehicle speed (3) and the load required (4). The gear shift points are additionally overridden by commands triggered by the regulating devices necessary for operating the vehicle. In addition, a known flasher (6) to indicate the direction of motion is connected by a cable (61) to the electronic control unit (2), and the generally known determination of the gear shift points is overridden by a flasher signal, either by immediate change down by at least one gear of by raising the points at which downward ou upward change occurs. The effectiveness of the flasher signal can be restricted to the higher gear of an automatic gear box. The signal from the flasher (6) also overrides any selected programmes (e.g., economical programme) and can also suppress anticipated upward changes of gear. |
