PRODUCTION OF PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPORTING BODY

PURPOSE:To prevent the edge staining of a both-side resin coated photographic supporting body due to the penetration of a developing soln. into the edges by using base paper made from pulp contg. PVAL resin having cationic structural units and a sizing agent. CONSTITUTION:When a both-side resin-coated photographic supporting body is produced, base paper made from pulp contg. PVAL resin having cationic structural units and a sizing agent is used. The sizing agent is preferably an alkylketene dimer added by >=0.2pts.wt. basing on the weight of the pulp or a fatty acid and/or a salt thereof added by >=0.5pts.wt. It is desirable that a bivalent metallic salt is further incorporated into the base paper. The edge staining of the resulting photographic supporting body can be prevented because the penetration of a developing soln. into the cut edges is inhibited.
