PURPOSE:To prevent generation of seam flaws in a rolling stage by forming an outlet part of a casting space of a casting mold to a rectangular shape chamfered at angle parts. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel is poured from a ladle through a tundish 1 and a nozzle 2 into the casting mold 3. The molten steel is cooled in the mold 3 and the outside thereof solidifies to form an ingot 5. Tapered parts 4 are formed to the angle parts in the casting space of the mold 3 to provide the rectangular shape chamfered at the angle parts in the bottom end part of the casting space in this case. The ingot 5 drawn from the mold 3, therefore, has the shape chamfered at the angle parts thereof. This ingot 5 is guided to a dummy bar 6, is drawn by pinch rolls 8 and is made into a steel plate by a hot rolling line. Since the steel plate produced in such a manner has the chamfered angle parts, seam flaws are not generated therein. The production of the rolled plate at a high yield is thus permitted.
