PURPOSE:To improve an erasing characteristic and over-write characteristic in a place where service environmental temp. is high by using ferromagnetic powder which is hexagonal ferrite formed by substituting part of Fe<3+> with Co, Zr and Fe<2+> and maintaining the temp. coefft. of coercive force near the room temp. thereof negative. CONSTITUTION:The ferromagnetic powder is the hexagonal ferrite formed by substituting part of Fe<3+> with Co, Zr and Fe<2+> and the temp. coefft. of the coercive force near the room temp. is negative. The hexagonal ferrite which is a ferromagnetic material includes representatively barium ferrite, strontium ferrite, and lead ferrite. This magnetic recording medium has the good erasing characteristic and over-write characteristic and has excellent practicability. The properties thereof have the sufficient practicability in the place where the service temp. is high. The erasing characteristic and over-write characteristic are thus improved.
