PURPOSE:To markedly enhance anticorrosion capacity, in a method using a radical reaction type ultraviolet curable org. coating composition, by performing irradiation with ultraviolet rays in an inert gas atmosphere having specific oxygen concn. or less. CONSTITUTION:In the anticorrosion treatment of a metal of every kind, a coating composition containing a radical polymerizable org. component and a photosensitizer as essential components is applied to the surface of a metal and the formed film is cured by ultraviolet rays but the atmosphere for irradiation with ultraviolet rays consists of inert gas such as nitrogen or argon and the oxygen concn. of this inert gas atmosphere is set to 0.5vol.% or less. By this method, the lowering of curing reaction due to the reaction with oxygen is suppressed and the anticorrosion capacity of the film can be still more enhanced.
