PURPOSE:To relieve the impact of working near the bottom dead point and to decrease noises and oscillations by forming a hydraulic chamber between a rod rest and slide and passing oil back and forth between said hydraulic chamber and another cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The pressurizing force of a press is transmitted via a crank shaft 1 to a connecting rod 2 and is transmitted by a spherical head 3 thereof and the rod rest 4 to the slide 6 via the hydraulic chamber 5. The oil in the hydraulic chamber 5 is communicated with the cylinder 8 provided on the outside of the slide via an oil line 9 and a flexible pipe 9A. The oil moves alternately in the chamber 5 and the cylinder 8 when a ram 10 in the cylinder 8 is moved back and forth. The volume of the oil filled in the chamber 5 is properly increased and decreased by moving the ram 10 back and forth before the slide 6 arrives at the bottom dead point from the top dead point in the press stroke, by which the control to detach and attach the spacing between the rod rest 4 and the slide 6 at a proper size is permitted. The working impact near the bottom dead point is thereby relieved.
