A method of fuel injection to an engine combustion chamber wherein a fuel holding chamber (4) is maintained at a reference pressure above atmospheric pressure and above the pressure existing in the engine combustion chamber during the injection of fuel; delivering from a metering device (1) (110) a metered quantity of fuel into the holding chamber (4) against said reference pressure; establishing communication through a valve (5) between the holding chamber and the combustion chamber; and maintaining saîd supply of gas to the holding chamber (4) while the valve (5) is open so the pressure of the gas is sufficient to displace the metered quantity of fuel from the holding chamber (4) to the combustion chamber. |
