PURPOSE:To obtain a water swelling rubber composition capable of increasing water swelling properties and swelling rate without reducing rubber hardness and modulus, by adding a water absorbing resin and a porous filler to a rubber base material. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100pts.wt. rubber base material (e.g. natural rubber, ethylene- propylene rubber or styrene-butadiene rubber) is blended with (B) 1-100pts.wt., preferably 20-50pts.wt. water absorbing resin (e.g. saponified ethylene-vinyl ester-acrylic acid ester or crosslinked acrylic acid-acrylate copolymer) and (C) 2-200pts.wt., preferably 5-50pts.wt. porous filler (e.g. porous beads) having >=20% voids and >=1m<2>/g specific surface area and other rubber compounding agents by a mixing rolls, etc.
