PURPOSE:To prevent destruction of data, which has a size other than a set size, stored in a memory by giving warning to a user if the set size set at the time of dislaying picture information is different from the register size of a picture to be displayed. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 takes out file management information, which is registered on an optical disk of a storage device 2, together with read picture information. It is discriminated whether the file register size for picture information registration which is included in this file management information is equal to the display size or not. If it is discriminated that they are equal to each other, all of picture information read from the storage device 2 is transferred to a memory 4, and picture information is displayed on an output device 6 with the size equal to the file register size. If it is discriminated that the display size is larger or smaller than the file register size, warning is given to the user to prevent destruction of data, whose size is not the set size, in the memory.
