PURPOSE:To expand the range of an exchange object data by providing a bit replacement counter counting bit edition in a present cycle and a preceding sent data storage means preserving the bit data in the next cycle. CONSTITUTION:In a data exchange, an output/input corresponding definition storage means 23 of a data exchange section 20 is provided with a bit exchange counter means 23c, a preceding sent data storage 30d in addition to an existing word definition storage means 23a and a bit definition storage means 23b. Through the constitution above, the data exchange section 20 applies the bit edition applied within the processing time of the present cycle and stores until whick part of the present cycle the bit edition is conducted is stored in the counter means 23c. Morevoer, the means 20 stores the bit edit data sent in the existing cycle in the storage mans 23d and the bit edition processing in the processing time of the next cycle is applied to the preceding sent data stored in the counter means 23c.
