PURPOSE:To reduce the number of components in a power source and to reduce the size of the power source by rectifying and smoothing the induced voltage of the secondary auxiliary winding of an output transformer, and supplying it to a driver. CONSTITUTION:A power source has a series circuit of an output transformer 3 and a first transistor (Tr) 4, a control circuit 15 for the Tr 4, an auxiliary power supply 38, and a pulse generator 47, etc., and supplies power from a main rectifying and smoothing unit 10 to a load 11. The power supply 38 has the auxiliary winding 34 of the transformer 3 and an auxiliary rectifying and smoothing unit 37, and its output voltage is controlled by a second Tr 18 and applied through a transformer 16 to the base of the Tr 4. The generator 47 has resistors, a capacitor 40, an N-gate thyristor 43, and a fourth Tr 44 to turns ON the thyristor 43 at predetermined time constants 39-40, thereby switching the Tr 4. When the power supply 38 rises, it switches the Tr 4 by the control circuit 15 through the Tr 18.
