Austenitic alloy consists of 40% Ni; 10.5% Cr; 2.0% Mo; 0.5% Si; 0.2% Mg; 0.05% Zr; 3.3% Ti; 1.7% Al; 0.03% C; 0.005% B; and Fe, from which a duct is fabricated. Alloy compsn. is partic. useful as a cladding for nuclear reactor fuel pins and as a duct forming material. A thermal stability ageing test was carried out with the alloy at 700 deg.C for 1000 hrs. A microscopic examination of the material confirmed its stability and established the presence of the gamma- prime stengthening phase when subjected to neutron irradiation over a wide temp. range only slight swelling was exhibited.
