PURPOSE:To recognize the detection of manual insertion into a recording device so as to reduce errors in insertion, by setting a printing enable condition, substantially simultaneously with the detection of paper at a manual insertion feed port, and by initiating the operation of paper feed after a predetermined time elapses from the detection of paper. CONSTITUTION:In the case of insertion of a paper sheet 407 to a paper feed roller 402 from a manual insertion guide 402 on a paper feed cassette 408, when a manual insertion detecting sensor PS203 detects the presence of paper, control is made to set a printing enable condition which is then indicated. The paper feed roller 402 is rotated after a predetermined time elapses from the completion of the detection of the manual insertion, and the paper feed for the printer is initiated. Accordingly, the printing enable condition is effected at once after manual insertion and is indicated, and therefore, it is possible to prevent the operator from feeling some fear and to lower the possibility of an error in manual insertion. |
