PURPOSE:To realize the read accesses with various methods for a bit map display memory consisting of plural memory planes, by using newly a means to replace the bit positions of the memory data read out of those memory planes. CONSTITUTION:When an access mode signal M and a selection signal S2 are set at 0, the data on planes (a) of 0-7 pixels are selected. While the data on planes (b) of 0-7 pixels are selected when the signal S2 is set at 1. Thus it is known that a plane access is attained. When the signal M is set at 1 and the signal S2 is set at 0, the data on four pixels 0-3 are selected. Then the data on four pixels 4-7 are selected when the signal S2 is set at 1. Thus it is known that a pixel access is attained.
