A ground covering member, particularly for use when playing ball games such as tennis, comprises a substantially flat surface and a plurality of apertures extending from the flat surface through the member, the apertures forming between 25 to 55% of the flat surface and each aperture having its largest dimension in the flat surface less than 30mm. and its smallest dimension in the flat surface more than 3mm. and a plurality of regularly spaced supporting feet extending from a surface of the member remote from the flat surface. The covering member preferably comprises a plurality of intersecting ribs moulded together, from a thermoplastic material, to form a flat surface defining a plurality of regularly distributed apertures, preferably of triangular section, each rib intersection being supported by a foot attached thereto on the surface opposite to the flat surface. The members are preferably rectangular in shape and may be joined at their corners by fastening members which engage the quarter and half-feet of the corners and edges. |
