The sight plate (6) in the mask has an edge fillet (10) formed in one piece with it. A fixture (12) is attached to the fillet, both fillet and fixture limiting a peripheral outwardly open track. This accommodates in a sealed manner an aperture in the edge (14) limiting the face protection.
