PURPOSE:To obtain the tool for seaming a can cover excellent in wear resistance and corrosion resistance by providing the inner layer composed of the carbide/nitride of Ti and the hard coating layer consisting of the outer layer composed of the oxides of Al and Zr. CONSTITUTION:The C contg. amt. of a Co base alloy base body is taken at 1.5-4% on the tool for seaming can cover. This Co base alloy base body provides the hard coating inner layer in 0.1-10mum averaged layer thickness consisting of one kind of the single layer among TiC, TiN and TiC or more than two kinds of plural layer on the surface. The solid coating outer layer in 0.1-10mum averaged layer thickness consisting of the single layer of one kind of Al2O3 or ZrO2 or the plural layers of two kinds is then provided on this inner layer. The tool for seaming can cover excellent in wear resistance and corrosion resistance is thus obtd.
