PURPOSE:To accelerate processing by classifying the candidates for an arc from broken lines divided into a fine line and approximated to a broken line and extracting the arc from the classified arc candidates based on the interior angle of two broken lines. CONSTITUTION:A fine line division and broken line approximating processing part 1 devides an inputted graphic pattern into fine lines and executes the broken line approximating processing for the fine-lined graphic. A classification processing part 2 classifies the broken lines into a broken line candidate for a straight line, a broken line candidate for an arc and a broken line candidate for skewness according to the length of the broken line. An arc extracting processing part 3 tracks the arc candidate broken line in the classified data, sequentially extracts the other neighboring arc candidate broken lines connected within the prescribed angle for some arc candidate broken line and unifies them one. An arc calculation processing part 4 receives the information on the unified arc candidate broken line group, calculates the radius and the central point of the co-ordinate of them as arc data and output it.
