发明名称 METHOD FOR DRIVING LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To increase the response speed of a liquid crystal by trisecting one scanning period of a liquid crystal display device and applying voltages for changing a display, nonchanging the display and negating a DC voltage component to sequentially selected scanning electrodes in every divided period. CONSTITUTION:One scanning period T is divided to the 1st-3rd divided periods T1-T3. The voltage of such a value as to negate the unbalance component of the applied voltages of positive and negative polarities within one scanning period T is applied to the liquid crystal cell connected to the selected scanning electrodes in the divided period T1. The voltage is 0V if there are no DC voltage components as this time. The voltage for changing the state to a dark or bright state is applied in the 2nd divided period T2. The voltage below the threshold voltage is applied in the 3rd divided period T3 in order to maintain the dark or bright state. Conversely, the voltage of the reverse polarity above the threshold voltage is applied in the case of changing the state to the bright or dark state. Since one scanning period T is trisected and the voltages are changed and applied at each of the divided periods, the response speed of the liquid crystal is increased. Constitution of a large-sized display device by increasing the number of the scanning electrodes is thus possible.
