PURPOSE:To provide a sheet feed cassette which is quiet and has high reliability and commercial value, by a method wherein a sound insulating means is situated in a position facing a position allowing the bottom of a casing to make contact with a feed roller. CONSTITUTION:In a separation roller 31, an upper roller 31a is rotated in a direction V and a lower roller 31b in a direction W. Even if the number of sheets fed by, for example, a first feed roller 28a is plural, only an uppermost sheet is separated to feed the sheet to a resist roller 33 side. Thereafter, a copy picture is formed on a sheet 22a by means of a picture forming means. The sheets are orderly fed, and when the sheets 22a are consumed down to approximate 70-80 remaining sheets, during lowering of the first feed roller 28a, the bottom of a casing 27a is struck through the medium of the sheets 22a. However, striking noise generated at that time is absorbed by a sound absorbing plate 30a.
