PURPOSE:To attain the quick detection of a device or a transmission generating transmission error by applying CRC check to all frames and allowing a device only just down-stream of a device generating the transmission error to inform the occurrence of CRC error and the error detector address to a centralized management unit. CONSTITUTION:If the frame from a transmission line 5a is addressed to its own equipment, a CRC check device 15 applies CRC operation, a frame not addressed to its own equipment is sent to a transmission line 5b via a frame passing path 23 and a transmitter 19, the CRC operation is applied by the CRC check device 16 and if the result of operation is in error, the result is stored in a register 17, after a token is caught by a transmission controller 18, a frame informing the occurrence of CRC error and error detector address is sent from the transmitter 19 to the transmission line 5b. When the frame passes a frame discriminating device 14 recognizes the informed frame to initialize the CRC check device 16, a register 17 and a transmission controller 18.
