METHODS OF PREPARING AND APPLYING SUBBING LAYERS FOR OPTICAL DATA DISKS

This disclosure includes a description of how a relatively common magnetic recording (metal) disk may be smoothed and prepared for deposition of layers adapted for optical recording of digital data, useful in extended archival data storage; this being effected with certain "subbing" coatings, especially on an anodized aluminum disk surface - prepared and applied according to special techniques.
