PURPOSE:To obtain the titled isolator having the compact size and the high quality by using a cylindrical magnet which is specified each dimensions of the outer diameter, the inner diameter and the thickness of the cylindrical magnet within a prescribed range, thereby enabling the selection of the magnet having the most optimum dimensions. CONSTITUTION:The titled isolator comprises the cylindrical magnet magnetized in parallel and in the direction of rotating symmetry axis, Faraday rotating element arranged in the central space of the magnet, and polarizer and analyzer provided with the both sides of the Faraday rotating element with inclination angle of 45 deg.. In case that the each dimensions of the cylindrical magnet are shown by the outer diameter Do, the inner diameter Di and the thickness L and alpha=Do/Di, the cylindrical magnet having the each dimensions shown by formula I is used for the titled isolator whereby the two conditions that the magnetic field applied to the Faraday rotating element makes as large as possible, and the distribution of the magnetic field in the direction of rotating symmetry axis makes as uniformly as possible, are satisfied. Thus, the titled isolator used the cylindrical magnet makes the compact size and the high quality.
