A fuel tank (5) is fastened to the underbody (1) of a vehicle below the luggage space by means of tension straps (6). In order to avoid undesirably high tensile forces on the tension straps (6) in the event of a rear collision, the tension straps (6) have folds (9, 10) which unfold if the tensile forces are too high and thereby lengthen the tension straps (6). <IMAGE>
