The invention relates to an air-cooled cylinder tube (4), which is held between a cylinder head and the crankcase (1) of an internal combustion engine, the cylinder tube (4) being supported by columns (5) extending over the clamped length of the cylinder tube (4). According to the invention the columns (5) are designed as air guide elements. As a result the cylinder tube (4) retains its cylindrical form when the internal combustion engine is in operation and no attachments such as air deflectors are needed for guiding the cooling air flow around the cylinder tube (4) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
