PURPOSE:To judge whether the insertion direction of an IC card is correct or not to prevent the damage to the IC card due to erroneous insertion by visually recognizing printed contents on the surface of the IC card through a transparent touch key part provided on a cover body. CONSTITUTION:When a cover body 2 is raised to store an IC card 3 in a card holding part 6 and is closed, a contact terminal 4 and a contact pin 1 are con nected, and a driving module 8 of a device body 1 is set to the operating state. if the card 3 is correctly inserted, printed contents on the surface of the card 3 are visually recognized through a transparent touch key part 14. Consequently, key symbols on the surface of the card are operated to read or write data and the data is displayed on a display part 15. If the card 3 is erroneously inserted, printed contents on the surface of the card are difficult to recognize and erroneous insertion operation is easily judged. Thus, the damage due to erroneous insertion of the card is prevented.
