PURPOSE:To permit formation of a sharp color image with high image sharpness without having color slurring by executing a developing stage and transferring stage once. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive base body 3 is used in place of a conductive or insulating base used heretofore as a base to be formed with a photoconductive toner layer 10. An electrostatic latent image is previously formed on the base body 3 and the photoconductive toner 10 is formed on this electrostatic latent image. The formation of the photoconductive toner layer 10 on the part corresponding to the non-image part of an original from the beginning is thereby obviated and, therefore, the unnecessary consumption of the photoconductive toner is suppressed; in addition, a photosensitive body 3 is directly exposed at the time of forming the latent image. There is thus no possibility at all that the contours of the latent image slur.
