PURPOSE:To shorten the reaction time between fine particles immobilized with a material bonding specifically with a material to be measured and sample in a method for bringing said fine particles and the material to be measured contained in the sample into reaction in a vessel by using particles consisting of a magnetic material as the fine particles and applying a magnetic field to a liquid suspension of the samples and the fine particles. CONSTITUTION:For example, the fine particles having a spherical shape consisting of the magnetic material immobilized with the material bonding specifically with the material to be measured and the sample are housed in a cell 1. An external magnetic field generator 2 generates the magnetic field to displace the fine particles housed in the cell 1. After the fine particles and the sample are housed into the cell 1, the generator 2 is operated for the specified time to impress the magnetic field to the liquid suspension 3. Light from a light source 4 is scattered by the fine particles in the liquid suspension 3 when a measuring operation is started and the light is projected through a polarizer 5 to the cell 1. The polarization condition thereof changes according to the flocculation condition of the fine particles. The output of a photodetector 7 changes according to the flocculation conditions of the fine particles in the liquid suspension 3 when the scattered light is entered through an analyzer 6 into said photodetector. The specific bond reaction is measured by detecting the change thereof.
