For the economical production of façades, a façade design element is proposed which consists of a basic body (1) which is produced from a rigid plastic foam, preferably rigid polystyrene foam. Said basic body (1) is provided with a cover layer (2) of an absorbent paper, absorbent cardboard or absorbent felt, the cover layer (2) being impregnated with a liquid synthetic resin, in particular epoxy resin. Façade design elements of this kind are economical and have adequate strength and durability, allowing them to be used even outdoors. <IMAGE>
