PURPOSE:To quickly generate picture displayed with the brightness varied in accordance with the degree of illumination by displaying brightness information of variable density picture elements as different variable density pictures on a display screen by arithmetic processing. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 supplies the indication of mapping processing, where a pattern A is formed on a part of a pattern B to a display control processor 2. The processor 2 raster-scans the pattern A to start point coordinates SX, SY of a scanning line l and coordinates DX, DY of a point corresponding to this start point. The processor 2 indicates brightness information I and indicates the displacement of the next scan point of the brightness I from the point DX, DY and sends this data to a DDA circuit part 3. The circuit part 3 calculates coordinates and the density on a line (r) each picture element based on data and stores them in a frame memory 4 and displays them on a display device. Thus, a pattern where the pattern A is stuck to the side face of the pattern B is obtained. Thus, pictures displayed with the brightness varied are quickly generated.
