PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for data transfer to a host device by providing a buffer, in which write data of an IC card is held, and a means which reads out data written in the IC card and compares this data with data in the buffer. CONSTITUTION:When write instruction is received from a host connection control part 1, a data processing part 2 writes write data of a data buffer part 4 in the IC card through an IC card control part 3. The processing part 2 judges whether the write operation is normally terminated or not by the control signal of the control part 3. If the write operation is normally terminated, the processing part 2 reads out written information and compares it with data of the buffer part 4; and if they coincide with each other, normal termination is reported to the host device through the control part 1. If abnormal termination is discriminated, abnormal termination and its cause are sent to the higher device through the control part 1. Thus, the time required for transfer of read data to the host device is shortened.
