PURPOSE:To expand the range where instructions can be interpreted by using some of instructions of a target computer as user definition instructions of different interpretation and passing control to an instruction execution simulation routine. CONSTITUTION:Instructions within a range wherein a program to be simulated which consists of instructions Ai, Aj, Ak... is interpreted as instructions of the target program are defined in a table (a) and user definition instructions of different interpretation from the target computer are defined in a table (b). A simulator retrieves the tables (a) and (b) so as to interpret the instructions Ai, Aj and Ak in the program to be simulated and simulates its execution if an instruction code is found in the table (a), but reads out registered storage position information alpha when it is found in the table (b) to adds beta and obtain a file name (c), thereby passing the control to the instruction execution simulation routine.
