[Also in Division F4] In apparatus for treating and aero-dynamically conducting textile webs or like material, gas or vapour is impelled against the surface of the web I in the form of jets 5 disposed in pairs, the jets of a pair being spaced apart and barrier means formed by the bases 3 of trapezium shaped baffles 2 being arranged between them to prevent movement of the gas or vapour away from the immediate vicinity of the web in a direction normal thereto so as to form a pressure zone between the base 3 and web 1, and the gas or vapour is conducted away from the web through zones 4 defined by troughs formed by alternate baffles 2. The nozzles 5 are formed by the narow linear space between the sides of adjacent baffles. The nozzles may be formed on both sides of the web which may travel in a horizontal or vertical path. The direction and velocity of the jets of gas or vapour may vary over wide limits relative to the web plane and additional jets may be directed into the pressure zones. |
