The coding system, for prod. transport carriers such as roller containers is applied to carcass hooks in a slaughter house to identify carcasses, monitor their progress and collect data regarding weight, classification and inspection results and utilises a unique pattern of openings (bores) arranged in or on each hook. The system is pref. used in conjunction with a camera with linear light detector array connected to a processing unit which decodes the encoded information and registers this.
