PURPOSE:To prevent the destruction of log information due to misoperation by setting a flag on a DASD (direct access storage device) journal and preventing the reuse in case of a backup incomplete state at the time of the occurrence of reuse. CONSTITUTION:In case of the reuse of a DASD journal 3, an unload (backup) completion flag provided in the management part of the DASD journal 3 is checked. The DASD journal is not reused if this flag indicates unload completion, but it cannot be reused if the flag indicates unload incompletion. Since the flag is set by an unload utility 2 at the time of unload completion, an operator does not interfere in this flag. Thus, erroneous destruction of data is prevented to improve the operability.
