PURPOSE:To permit paper to be stably held at a fixed position by constituting a gripper with a magnetic force holding means. CONSTITUTION:A gripper 1 is provided with a magnetic force holding means 3 mounted on the external periphery of a platen drum 2 as an image forming medium transport means, and the magnetic force holding means 3 is provided with a holding member 5 and a magnet 6. The holding member 5 is formed by bending a magnetic material plate in L-shape with one side serving as a sliding piece 5a and the other side as an attraction piece 5b. The gripper 1 lifts up the attraction piece 5b of the holding member 5 to form a holding space 7 for paper P above the magnet 6, and the end P1 of paper P is fitted to the wall surface of the sliding piece 5a in the holding space 7. Under this state, if a force which lifts up the attraction piece 5 is released, the attraction, piece 5b is attracted by the magnetic 6, and subsequently, the end P1 of paper P is held uniformly by a stable holding force across the entire are between the attraction piece 5b and the magnet 6.
