PURPOSE:To eliminate wasteful leading end exposure operation, by a method wherein said operation of a stripe pattern painted multicolor ink sheet is not performed from the point of time when a power source is closed to the point of time of the first recording when the first recording after the power source is closed is performed using the first color ink sheet. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 14 is constituted by mounting the upper and lower stage cassettes 40, 40 of the first color ink sheet and stripe pattern painted multicolor ink sheet on a carriage table 35 and moved vertically by the revolution of a ribbon cam 17 through shift levers 29, 31 to allow either one of the ink sheets to oppose to a platen 5 through a recording sheet 4 and, in the case of a multicolor, leading end exposure is performed by the signal of a color sensor to perform recording by a thermal transfer head. Herein, when the first recording after a power source is closed is performed by the first color ink sheet, since a multiribbon set color is undecided from the closure of the power source to the first recording, the leading end exposure operation of the stripe pattern painted multicolor ink sheet is not performed and, when the multiribbon set color is judged, leading end exposure is performed. By this method, unnecessary exposure operation of leading end can be eliminated. |
