PURPOSE:To provide an instrument for measuring in-furnace conditions of a blast furnace which can measure the in-furnace conditions with a piece of sonde even with respect to the plural positions in the height direction within the blast furnace by constituting the furnace top sonde in such a manner that the sonde can be inserted into the furnace at varied angles of inclination. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate part of the sonde 10 is supported by a spherical body shaft 14. A hydraulic cylinder 12, therefore, swivels by a prescribed angle along a gear type rail 18 and a guide rail 20 when a driving motor 16 is driven. The sonde 10 is thereby rotated at a prescribed angle as well around the shaft 14. The sonde 10 can be put in and out of the blast furnace 2 when the cylinder 12 is actuated. Namely, the gas and temp. can be measured on both the front face and in the position apart from raw materials 6 by changing the insertion angle of the sonde 10. This information is then fed back to a movable arm 8 and the line is brought to the original line pattern or optimum pattern by adjusting the arm 8. The satisfactory operation of the blast furnace 2 is thus executed.
