PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous operation of double printing, by checking the continuity of the data of an extracted printing part and calculating the average value of the data of a part satisfying predetermined continuity to compare the same with a density judge reference value. CONSTITUTION:In the processing performed by CPU, a processing process for checking the continuity of a printing part after the detection processing of said printing part to judge density is provided and roughly separated into continuity check processing 30 and processing 37 comparing the average value of a continuous part obtained by the processing 30 with a reference value. The continuity of the printing part appears in a lateral direction, a longitudinal direction and an oblique direction but, with respect to a character part having a hyphen as shown by a drawing, it is effective to look the continuity in the lateral direction. When the average value of the continuous part is compared with a predetermined reference value, (a) can be judged to be normal and, from (b), it can be judged that the life of a ribbon is exhausted. |
