A device for dispensing lengths of a wound web material, in particular paper, wherein the end of the web following the detached length is left ready for use, having a mounting for the material roll and a blade which corresponds to the width of the web and which can be pivoted about an axis such that, when in an inoperative position, the blade is swung in, and, for a cutting operation, the blade is swung out, characterised in that the blade (2) is coupled to a slide (5), which is actuatable by the web (6) and is subjected to a spring force (3) acting in the opposite direction, the blade being pivoted by the slide (5) into its swung-in and swung out positions and retained therein by said slide. |
