PURPOSE:To develop a black or dark color alone, by forming a recording material by providing a recording layer consisting of a methine compound represented by a specific formula and a quinone compound represented by a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:A methine compound represented by formula I (wherein R is a lower alkyl group and A is a 4-aminophenyl group or a 3-indolyl group) is dissolved in a proper solvent and the resulting solution is encapsulated by a wall material to be applied to a support. Separately, a quinone compound represented by formula II (wherein X1-X4 are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyloxycarbonyl group) is applied to a support along with a proper binder or pigment to form a recording material. The coating surfaces of both of them are opposed to each other and pressed to break the capsule and the compound of the formula II flows out to be reacted with the compound of the formula II to develop a color and an image is formed. |
