NEW MATERIAL:A fluorine-containing glycol ester shown by formula I [Rf is C8F11 or C9F17; R is CnH2n (n is 2-4)]. USE:Useful as a raw material for producing fluorine-containing polymers. PREPARATION:A fluorine-containing dicarboxylic acid shown by formula II is reacted with a dihydric alcohol shown by formula III in the presence of an acid catalyst, preferably sulfuric acid or P-toluenesulfonic acid at 50-200 deg.C to give a compound shown by formula I. As another method, a fluorine- containing carboxylic acid diester shown by formula IV (A is CnH2n+1; n is 1-4) is subjected to ester interchange reaction with a dihydric alcohol shown by formula III at 50-200 deg.C to give a compound shown by formula I.
