PURPOSE:To improve the use efficiency of a line by detecting the voice line of the non-calling condition of a PCM multiplexing device in which a data transmission is executed by using the voice line and transmitting the data by using the line. CONSTITUTION:The a data signal is transmitted through the voice line of the non-calling condition, and when the voice line of the non-calling condition goes to the calling condition, it is automatically switched to the voice line of other non-calling condition and the transmission of the data signal is continued. Thus, without fixing the voice line the data can be transmitted, the data is transmitted by using the voice line of the non-calling condition. Consequently, without decreasing the number of voice lines, the data can be transmitted. Further, when the non-calling voice line goes to the calling condition during the data transmission, it is switched to other non-calling voice line and the interruption of the data line is avoided. Thus, the line of the non-calling condition can be efficiently used.
