A rolling mill stand in which at least one of the back-up rolls is given a convex crown around the roll body in an amount from 0.5 mm to 10 mm in diameter and at least one of the work rolls contacting the back-up rolls is given a concave crown around the roll body under the condition: 0.4 x CBUR ? CWR ? 0.15 x CBUR Also disclosed are mill arrangements in which at least one rolling mill stand of the above type is incorporated.
