PURPOSE:To improve an encoding efficiency by evaluating a movement vector from the number of encoding bits ad and a predictive error signal power and forcibly setting a distortion based on the error of the movement vector of the predictive error signal to 0. CONSTITUTION:The vector Vopt in which the set of the candidate vectors is defined to be V0, V1,..., VN, the quantity of encoding required for transmitting the elements Vi of the vector to be V(Vi) bit and a predictive encoding error signal power at the time of using the vector Vi to be D(Vi) and an evaluation function F(Vi)=F(C(Vi), D(Vi) to be a minimum is transmitted as an optimum vector. As the evaluation function of the movement vector, the quantity of encoding required for transmitting the movement vector Vi as well as the predictive error power D(Vi) to the movement vector is used as a variable, thereby, the predictive error power is made minimum under the constant quantity of encoding. The number of bits required for encoding the predictive error signal is reduced by forming the predictive error signal. |
