PURPOSE:To eliminate a process for which an original point is obtn. and to easily correct the plotter mounting position by detecting the position of a plotter with its real position and detecting terminal attached to the plotter and a digitizer. CONSTITUTION:A digitizer 1 contains plural electrode lines in the X and Y axis directions and a printing form 5 is fixed onto the digitizer 1. A plotter 3 is set at an optional position on the digitizer 1 and the pulses are applied successively to the electrodes of the digitizer 1. The capacitive connection is secured between these electrodes and a position detecting terminal 12 and the X/Y coordinate positions of the terminal 12 are calculated by a control circuit 18. Then a print starting signal and a print starting position signal are received from a host computer for calculation of the gradient to the print start position of the plotter 3 as well as the moving distance of the plotter 3. The signals are applied to the left and right motors 10 and 11 to move the plotter 3.
