PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproducing efficiency without changing the material of magnetic cores and the shape of a head by using a metallic material having <=10<-5>OMEGA.m volume resistivity for gap spacers. CONSTITUTION:The metallic material having <=10<-5>OMEGA.m volume resistivity is used for the gap spacers 2, 12 of the magnetic head which records and/ reproduces frequency signals of >=1MHz bands. The remarkable eddy current in a magnetic gap part, increased magnetic resistance and improved recording and reproducing efficiency of the head are thereby obtd. The loss by the eddy current increases in proportion to frequencies and, therefore, the improvement in the recording and reproducing efficiency particularly in the high-frequency region is remarkably high.
