NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is 1-4C lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:Dichloro-2-methyl-1, 3-diaminopropane platinum(II). USE:A carcinostatic agent having strong carcinostatic activity and low toxicity. PREPARATION:For example, the compound of formula I wherein R is 1-3C alkyl can be produced by (1) synthesizing diethylalkyl malonate of formula III from an alkyl bromide of formula R-Br and ethyl malonate of formula II, (2) reducing the product with LiAlH4 in ether, (3) reacting the resultant compound of formula IV with HBr using sulfuric acid as a catalyst to obtain a compound of formula V, (4) reacting the compound with potassium phthalimide, (5) hydrolyzing the obtained 1,3-diphthalimido-2-alkylpropane of formula VI with hydrochloric acid to obtain a hydrochloride of formula VII, (6) dissolving the salt in water and (7) adding an aqueous solution of K2PtCl4 at pH10-11.
