PURPOSE:To reduce pressure loss due to detecting an intake air quantity by determining an intake air flow rate on a throttle valve opening and intake air pressure when either the throttle valve opening or the intake air pressure is below its fixed value, and on the intake air pressure and the number of engine revolutions when either of them is above its fixed value respectively. CONSTITUTION:A surge tank 14 arranged on an intake system is provided with an intake air pressure detector 19, and the above-mentioned intake system is moreover provided with a crank angle detector 28 and a valve opening detector 30 for a throttle valve 16. Output signals issued from the detectors 19, 28, 30 is inputted into a processing device 31, where an intake air flow rate is computed on a throttle valve opening and intake air pressure using fixed computing equation when either the throttle valve opening or the intake air pressure is below its predetermined fixed value, and on the intake air pressure and the number of revolutions of an internal combustion engine 13 per unit time when the throttle valve opening and the intake air pressure are above their above-mentioned fixed value respectively, and a fuel injection quantity necessary for unit revolutions is therefore determined on the computed intake air flow rate and the number of engine revolutions.
